November was National Homeless Awareness month, and we wanted to share a belated note about some ways that we can support our homeless families and the broader community. Many of the students and parents we serve have faced financial and tragic challenges which have significantly altered their lifestyles. Let’s be mindful of these things as we provide service excellence to our families. The Atlanta Public Schools Homeless Education Department has listed several ways you can show your support: 1. Volunteer at a shelter 2. Purchase gift cards and give them to your School Social Worker or the APS Homeless Liaison, Tonya Malone. 3. Sign up and donate through Purposity. For questions, please contact Tonya Malone APS Student Services Department at [email protected]. One way we can do this is to provide parents with fun activities they can do at home with their kids so they can still engage in learning during the holiday. Here are a few tips to share with your parents to keep children busy during the break.
